Episode 2 Resource Guide, Part 2: Video on starting a guerilla garden

Posted on January 31st, 2012 by Alley Pezanoski-Browne No Comments

Every city and town has them. Those abandoned lots that sit there doing nothing but look sad. What if every one of those spaces was transformed into a guerilla garden?

So, where do you begin?

  1. Find the right spot for your garden, and if you can’t find the right location, you can make one.
  2. Choose the right plants for your specific space.
  3. Set a schedule for when you can work in your garden, and also make sure you assemble a team of volunteers.
  4. Gather your materials, and think about using recycled items anywhere you can in your garden. Soda bottle bird feeder, maybe?

And last but not least, get some inspiration from Annie Shaw who created the guerilla garden Pennsylvania Gardens in San Francisco (thanks to our friends at the Neighborhood Empowerment Network for the use of their beautiful video!):
