We’re Getting A Divorce

Posted on March 23rd, 2011 by Producer @PICtv 5 Comments
As common as we’re told divorce is, that doesn’t make it any easier to go through when it’s happening. During the time span of a divorce, everyone will deal with a range of emotions. Then there are things that people don’t think much about- all of a sudden one parent has to move out, which means apartment hunting, buying new furniture, coming up with a security deposit. And there are the things people think a lot about. Do we need lawyers? How do we arrange visitation schedules?

Through all of this, if you have one or more kids and you are trying to navigate through a sad, frustrating process, it can be easy to forget that you need to be strong enough for the whole family. On this episode, we address getting a divorce. We aren’t adding “the right way” to the end of that, because what’s right for every family will be different. But we hope that, with a healthy dose of humor, and a lot of links to resources, we can help you tackle a few of the aspects of your divorce.

I forgot to give very special thanks to Tim Rogier, who cooked for me late one night as I tried to make funny jokes. I believe he was responsible for “Just kidding. Our love died.”

  4. In response to the articles question on whether you should get an attorney; the answer is only if you have to. There are alternatives like mediators and companies that will draft divorce paperwork for you. You can hire an attorney to simply look over your paperwork to make sure everything is correct. Staying out of court as much as possible is the best thing for all parties
