So, your mom and dad got their Facebook account all set up, but now they’re not sure how to add your aunt, the neighbors and, of course, you to their friends list. Help them keep in touch with family, friends, coworkers and everyone else on Facebook with this how-to:
Find several friends at the same time
-
Go to the web
Open your Internet Browser (Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc.) from your desktop or start menu
-
Open Facebook
Type www.facebook.com in your search bar.
-
Log in
Log in to your Facebook account from the main page. If you’re not already on Facebook, learn how to set up an account here.
-
Find your friends online
After you’ve logged in, click on the friend request icon in the left corner and click on “Find Friends.”
-
Use your contacts to quickly add friends
A list of email accounts (Yahoo, AOL, etc.) will pop up. Click on the one you use and enter your account information.
-
Allow Facebook to find friends for you
It will ask for permission to go through your contacts. Click on “agree.”
-
Send friend requests
Once your list of contacts has loaded, go through and select people individually or several at a time to add friends.
Find your friends individually
-
Open Facebook and log in
Follow steps 1 through 3 above for finding multiple friends.
-
Search for friends
Once you’re logged in to Facebook, click on the search box in Facebook and enter the email or name of a friend you’d like to find. (example: Jennifer Smith)
-
Find the right friend
Scroll through the list of profiles. If you can’t find your friend, scroll down to the bottom of the list and click on “show more results.”
-
Narrow down your results
Once the results load, you’ll notice there are a mix of people, groups, pages, etc. You can make sure the only results showing are for individuals by clicking on “people” in the list of options on the left.
-
Send a friend request
After you’ve found the person you were looking for, click on “add friend” next to their name. Or click on their name to view their profile and then click on “add friend” from their profile page.
